KITCHEN CABINETS PAINTING

We don't just paint cabinets; we refinish them with a unique application so cabinets can stay in good condition for a long time and withstand an aggressive kitchen environment. 

Please notice the difference in the process of cabinet re-facing and the materials we use, and our competition.

Almost all our competitors use only two coats of acetone or water-based lacquer for refinishing.

We refinish cabinets with two coats of stain-blocking primer and two coats of enamel fortified with urethane for a smooth, washable, durable, and lasting finish. Then, we refinish the cabinet box frame and panels in the same color and sheen.

Our finishes withstand the heavy use of kitchens and bathrooms.

One coat of lacquer is one mil thick, and one coat of primer and paint is 1.5 mil thick.  Thus, our competition finishes are two mils thick while our minimum is six mils thick. 

Lacquer finishes are not recommended for wood cabinets; they dry hard and have no flexibility. Wood expands and contracts due to weather changes, and joints tend to move, which might cause the lacquer finish to crack and peel off. Enamel finishes, on the other hand, are flexible and allow for weather changes without cracking and peeling off. That's why we give a five-year warranty on our finishes.

 Almost all our competition uses acetone-based lacquer with only one or two coats to protect cabinets. Lacquer is very thin and can be applied in only a thin layer, otherwise it gets runs and cracks, it is easy to scratch, not durable, and starts deteriorating in a very short amount of time, especially in areas exposed to moisture, grease, sun, and human sweat like kitchens and bathrooms.

For natural wood stained finishes, after sanding and de-glossing existing finish and thorough preparation, we refinish cabinets with hand-applied, oil-based, urethane enriched gel-stain, manufactured by Old Masters, to achieve a desired color and depth, then use for protection only polyurethane or varnish to get smooth, washable, durable and lasting finish that can withstand heavy use in the kitchen or bathroom. A very important advantage of our finishes over the competition is that they can be repaired and touched up in case of any damage without noticing a difference between old and new finish, while lacquer finishes cannot be repaired, it will show the difference between old and new finish.

For your information, one layer of lacquer has one mil film, one layer of gel-stain 1,5 mil, and one layer of polyurethane two mil film. So, our finishes have a minimum of 5 mil thick film. Please compare with our competition.
